There is the field resting
There is the field resting were shepherds by night,
Through cold, they attended their flocks’ oversight,
They were very hungry, they were very tired,
But soon would those shepherds in awe be inspired.
They heard angels loudly proclaim jubilee,
And so they went forward the manger to see,
Forgetting all slumber, ignoring all pain,
With joyfulness more than their hearts could contain.
And what they were seeing is still on display,
And blessed are all people who see Him today,
So blessed in their going, they joyfully sing
To give praise and honor and thanks to our King.
The choirs then sang brightly with heavenly blend,
So let us sing brightly together, my friend,
With throats singing sweetly and voices well-trained
As well as those singing with joy unrestrained.
The stars in the heavens shine brightly all night,
But One far above always keeps us in sight,
He shows us the way, so we follow and run
And bless the dear mother and greet the dear Son.
